Do Your Knees Do This?

The knee is a simple hinge joint that bends and straightens, right?  

Yes, it is a hinge joint that mostly bends and straightens.  However, it has subtle rotational movements that allow the knee to lock and unlock.  

Sometimes, observing if the individual has these rotations during knee flexion and extension can clarify what type of rehabilitation one could benefit from. 

By understanding these movements, you can also observe holistically how a hip or an ankle affect the knee.
